2021 Chardonnay
In typical Twisted Roots style, our 2021 Chardonnay, is different than most California Chardonnay.... To keep with the light, Chiblis style we have become known for, we let the grapes hang a few days longer than they are used to, with the goal of trying to slightly build up the nose on the wine. Because of that, this vintage has a powerful nose, followed by a soft subtle body, and plenty of acidity on the back end. We did very light secondary fermentation as well, which gives the wine a great finish, to complement the soft body. We hope you enjoy! Cheers
Not your traditional big oaky or buttery Chardonnay by California standards. Simply a clean, bright and well balanced wine!
Tasting notes
Our winemaker tries to make our Chardonnay more like a Sauvignon Blanc, than the traditional Californian style Chardonnay. We only put 1/3 of the total barrels produced thru secondary fermentation, also known as malolactic fermentation, a process where the tart malic acid in wine converts to softer, creamier lactic acid (the same acid found in milk), which gives the wine a “Buttery” feel or taste. This vintage you should get some stone fruit type flavors, as well some soft green pear flavors, along with some soft acidity.
